I began my journey at UChicago in summer 2017 as an undergraduate intern. It was also my first-ever visit to the United States. It proved to be an incredible experience in BMB department, as the warmth and enthusiasm shown by everyone, combined with their passion for science, motivated me to return as a PhD student one year later. UChicago is renowned for its exceptional scientific research environment, especially in the field of epitranscriptomics, making it the ultimate destination for such studies worldwide. The infrastructure here is perfect, possessing advanced resources like the HPC “midway” and the prestigious Argonne National Lab. Of course, the most important thing is that everyone here is open-minded and helpful. I have the freedom to talk to any PI or students about any scientific problems. Also, the language learning support and visa support are extremely useful for international students. The comprehensive career support allows students to explore their own career path, whether in academia or industry. Personally, I received invaluable assistance with industrial networking, application preparation and internship opportunities. All these resources have greatly contributed to my personal growth and development during my time at UChicago and I’m enjoying my final year here.
